Kintu: Black Book Club

October 31 @ 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm CET
This month Vienna Black Book Club reads Kintu by Jennifer Nansubuga Makumbi.
The story starts in Buganda in 1750, when a death on Kintu Kidda’s journey to the capital lays a curse on his bloodline. Two and a half centuries later, his descendants in modern Uganda are still living with it. The novel weaves Ganda history, myth and family saga into one story.
It won the Kwani? Manuscript Project before it was even published, was named a Sunday Times Book of the Year, and the Financial Times called it “a triumph”.
Vienna Black Book Club is a book club for Black people in Vienna, reading Black writers from across Africa and its diasporas. We meet for one book, one afternoon and an open conversation. The discussion is held in English.
Finished the book, halfway through, or just curious: bring it and your thoughts.
